Greater Yellowlegs - Tringa melanoleuca

This is the Greater Yellowlegs Tringa melanoleuca from the Braakman, west of Terneuzen (Zeeland). It was first seen in Cumbria, England, from October 15th till November 13th 1994 (cf Birding World 7: 382, 1994), then between Dudzele and Zeebrugge in Belgium from November 27th till December 2nd 1994.

On Januari 15th 1995 it was seen for a short period at Grijpskerke (Zeeland), again discovered by Jan Goedbloed, who discovered two months before the first Lesser Scaup Aythya affinis at Veere (Zeeland) for the Netherlands. Fortunately on April 20th 1995 it was found again in a small pond near De Braakman an estuary west of Terneuzen, Zeeuws Vlaanderen (Zeeland), where the bird stayed till May 26th 1995 (I saw it on Friday April 21st) and everybody had the opportunity to see and photograph the bird well.
