Greenland White-fronted Goose - Anser albifrons flavirostris
In the afternoon of 5 November 1997 Rik Winters and Theo Bakker found a Greenland White-fronted Goose Anser albifrons flavirostris between several White-fronted Geese A albifrons near Ferwoude Fr. Only on Sunday 9 November it was rediscovered by Theo Bakker, Leo Boon, Gerben ter Haar en Rik Winters again just a few kilmeter south from the original location just west of Workum Fr. The bird was seen till dark and could be studied and photographed at close range. I made in time and I was able to see that the bird was slightly larger and the plumage was a little bit darker and there were more black markings on the belly compared to the other White-fronted Gees. Of course the orange bill and feet were very obvious. The bird was also seen on 9 November in the early morning (cf Dutch Birding 19 (5), 269, 1997).
