1991
1991 started as a slow below-average year. Nothing
happened at all in spring. In September things changed. Three mega-species were found in a very short period
of time, a Great Knot Calidris tenuirostris on 19 September, a Sandhill Crane Grus canadensis on 28 September, plus a
(non-twitcheable) Pallas's Grashopper Warbler Locustella certhiola on 5 October. Other goodies that autumn were the first twitcheable Pacific Golden Plover Pluvialis pacifica and the first record of Lesser Yellowlegs Tringa flavipes.
